Since the average man in the USA lives to be 74.8 years old I'm sure the government loves people to wait until they're 70 to collect. Pay them for 4.7 years according to the average. Much better than paying them for 12.7 years. Work for 45 plus years to finally make it to the promise land and then decide to wait 8 more years to get that extra money. I guess people want to buy custom alloy wheels for their Rascal scooter. Lol.


Everyone's calculation is going to be different. No way I was going to draw at 62 for example. The haircut financially would have been pretty large. At minimum, I was going to wait until FRA back then. And based on the calculations we ran a couple months ago, Its still not a slam dunk that I draw at FRA.

The other consideration is spousal benefits. If you don't have a spouse, you need not be concerned at all. I do, and the spousal benefit is playing into my decision. Her family on both sides tend to have a lot more birthdays than mine do. The average age of the USA male tipping over has very little bearing on my decision.
