Can you? Yes.

Should you? Probably not.

In my opinion, you shouldn't be shooting deer with less than a .243 caliber gun.

I had crop damage tags for a few years, thought that my 223 would work and save some money on ammo plus be quieter. First deer I shot was a ~90 lb doe, hit her through the heart, no blood trail and she went 150 yards. After that I used my 7mm-08. I agree on the 243 being a minimum.
