East of Broken Bow | We put a 436 from a 1440 combine into our 766. Pretty much bolted right in but had to remove the fan spacer and lengthen the fuel lines and a few other things. The 766 air cleaner won't fit with the longer engine, will need to replace it with one from a 966 (or possibly 1066). Also, the combine had an electronic tach, so we got an aftermarket one that runs off the alternator signal wire. The holes are already in the frame for the longer engine.
The mechanic really, really wanted the 360 block, and pretty much did the work in exchange for the 360 motor with a knock. We provided the 1440. All we wanted was a usable tractor, wasn't worried about keeping it all factory. | |
