The main criteria for Trumps appointments is loyalty, qualifications are of minor importance. Doesn't matter who is appointed as Ag Secretary, they will be on a short leash as will all other appointees. Thing that remains to be seen is the impact the DOGE will have. If they target ag programs it could get uncomfortable for ag. We will see.
