If you apply the Nh3 yourself, one can do the bulk of the erodible areas cross the hill side. Use dry urea for the end rows.
I hire mine done and have very little trouble with erosion. I do have some end rows that wash some times but not much.
When I did it myself I would make a wavy pass on the up and own end rows. That way the water didn't get started running fast quite so easy.
