Southeast WI | We just had a Pennsylvania fall here and I did exactly what you are proposing 10 days ago sans dicamba on a couple hundred acres of rye covers.
Rye is good at suppressing a lot of weeds except when chickweed, purple dead nettle, creeping Charlie and marestail get an early start from a warm fall like this past one. Fields should be reasonably clean in Spring as the weeds look messed up from 24D already and the freezing temps should be the hammer to take em out.
