Subject: RE: Thoughts on the West Central/CHS buyout (W MN)?

Roseglen, North Dakota
We have 6 good sized elevators within 60 miles of our farm.
(3) CHS
(1) Ceres
(1) Agrex
(1) ADM
I don't know how they all survive because the price hardly varies a nickel.
But the CHS closest to us gets the most grain of any of them. They are extremely competitive and have a very dedicated staff.
Many were against it when CHS bought out the local elevator but it has actually benefitted the area farmers in many ways:
3 spreaders
1 or 2 sprayers
A large fertilizer plant
None of this wd have happened without the buyout and the grain prices would be at least a dime less if it were still privately owned because they simply can't compete with the big boys.
So in this case it was a good thing
But there's enuff competition they keep each other honest.
