Good and the bad ?
Does the system plug from all the back drainin?
All good
No, there's a plastic screen about 1 1/2" in diameter in bottom of bowl that's going to catch hay/grass, with holes about 1/32" in size. These bowl drain goes into a 2" PVC pipe that drops to below the foot valve. Then where the foot valve actually drains is inside the 8" (roughly) outside pipe, I'm guessing is about 10" up from the bottom of said pipe. For reference there is a 5" sticking out of the 8" outside pipe, an elbow then a 4" nipple that the foot valve fastens to.
I'm on top of a gravel pile, so I just dug deep enough to put a 5-gal bucket filled with pea rock on the bottom (where the 8" outside pipe sits on, if that makes sense) for a seep bed. I put two of these DPW in a little over a year ago, the second one I used a big box store's brass connector with a plastic coupling. The DPW has stainless steel fittings. A couple of weeks ago the brass coupling split, for IDK how long, but finally water was coming up the outside of the DP 8" pipe, creating a water puddle on top of the ground. Turn water off on Tuesday and dug up/fixed on Friday with no mud.
Needless to say, I replaced the brass/plastic BB stuff with a forged brass coupling and brass hose barb back in place. I didn't use forged brass on the second DPW last year because while putting first one in the hole caved in covering those parts with 3' of dirt accidently. |
