Central Indiana here. We are killing it with tillage. Wheat works in. Rye would drag and clump up from stalks being so coarse. Yes last 2 years of rye we did wheat also. Not in same field. But same farm. Not a hater of rye. Just not for what we are trying to do. We was 100# for feed but was 40-50# for cover on rye. It has a place .we just found it dried ground out more for planting in dry spring. We want to spray once after planting. I’m not a fan of handing our money to chemical companies. Lots of other factors play into our decisions to do this.
