North Central Kansas | What would be difficult on the heifers? We did our replacement heifers last spring and they all got the EID and the tattoo. Vet said it was easier for him to capture and load the eid file to report. All of our cows have EID's. We have our own wand. The EID's are loaded into the wand with the Cow # attached to it. Since it is usually just my brother and I and sometimes the Vet it speeds up working cows.
When our Vet does the bangs vaccination he uses his wand and laptop that is connected to the wand. You scan the EID and then put in the cow number. I see the EID for bangs as no different then the metal tag. they both can fall out but one you can use to collect data on your herd.
