SW Wisconsin | While I'm young I need to maximize my land utilization. I have pasture for 56 milking in a good year, and can scrape by with bought feed in bad ones. When I get more debt paid down I'll be able to cut back to 45 and make better use of my pastures in a dry year. Hopefully I can pick up a little extra land at some point so I have to buy less feed. 45 with a slightly upgraded parlor would take around an hour to milk, which is pretty sustainable. | |
