That’s not the “backwater” elevator he’s was referring to.
A <1m storage facility is pretty much worthless in todays world of commercial grain handling but it would be just the ticket for the specialty stuff I mentioned instead of just letting it die.
I never intended to insinuate that the west central elevators were the independent backwater ones. It was more referring to people who pine for the old days when you had a different elevator five miles in each direction from the farm, and if one bid was lagging you could just go to one of the other guys. Obviously those days are over, there isn’t going to be a 10,000,000 bushel facility every few miles across the countryside.
