| I said every gallon is regulated the same no matter if it’s premium or e-85. True fact. Never said that one would not contain less than the other
Every gallon of gasoline that goes out of the refinery has a max limit on benzene. I should know, I worked in one for 32 years. The max ppm was lowered sometime in the early 2000’s. We had to build an additional unit to comply
On top of that, it was more profitable to extract the benzene and sell it to the chemical companies. We fine tuned the processes….didn’t want any going to motor fuel. Lot of times it was in the $100/ bbl range. Worth way more than gasoline. Absolutely no incentive to have it in gas. Other ways to make high octane fuel. Look up alkylation.
