Subject: RE: Corn post spray

NC Kansas
We try to spray our corn about 6-10" tall with Ful-time nxt/callisto/banvel(6-8oz)/round-up. This gets you farther into season and closer to canopy. Banvel is fairly safe on smaller corn and cheaper than status. Now this isn't necessarily a 1 pass system. In the fall, in our wheat stubble we will run 1 lb of atrazine with round up. This cleans up any lingering volunteer wheat and the atrazine keeps the field relatively clean into mid April (depending on the spring moisture and temps) On our non-wheat stubble acres that we may not get sprayed in the fall, you may need to run an early April burndown of some kind, can put on half of your ful-time then or another 1/2 lb of atrazine or something depending on how much ful-time you put on later.

The only issues we've noticed with this program is in drought years on our lighter soils where the corn doesn't get the ground completely shaded, we'll have some late flushes of foxtail grasses come in... but I'm not sure if that's our chem program or just a function of drought stressed corn no able to out compete that late season stuff.
