We use wagons for harvest - hauling to grain site and semis for hauling from the farm site to E-plants. Only 2 guys here - in order to use the semis for harvest we would need to hire another person and also buy a cart. Everything is within 5 miles of the grain site - I totally get why you would want semis for something more than that as the time factor gets much higher. Have done things that help speed up the process other places - 13" auger for dumping helps a lot, 2 sets of two 657 Brents coupled together, so hauling 13-1400 bushels each trip. We feel we have a lower operating cost by using this setup but obviously we are giving up some speed as the trade off.
