Not necessarily trigonometry, but we use circumference to estimate how many bales we can get out of a roll of netwrap. I don't use it very much but you can also use circumference to figure out how much electric fence wire you have in a spool by counting the wraps. I use trig on a very regular basis at my day job doing carpentry work. Struggled with it in school until a teacher helped put things into perspective. For example, once I converted the triangles into rafters the problems became easier for me to understand. I am really glad to see teachers trying to show the students actual/practical reasons to learn things instead of telling them "oh you'll need it for college".
