In the pot that the stuffing will be made in we first melt a couple tablespoons of butter and saute some finely chopped onions or scalions, mushrooms, and celery. Take those out of the pot, then add the water called for in the recipe and boil it and make the stuffing. For added flavor you can substitute chicken stock for some of the water. When the stuffing is all moist, add back the onions, mushrooms and celery. You can also add dried fruit (apples and cranberries) which have been rehydrating in water already, to the water before boiling and adding the stuffing mix. | |
