| When I had to backup to kick a bale, 1070 case was my favorite. The case power shift is actually very good for loaders and balers and anything else where you go to reverse a lot. No deere from that time period can match it.
I tried my cx90 case, doesn’t really have the power for 5x6 bales, but does the job. Not enough ground clearance in good hay though is the bigger issue. Not being power shift is a problem too in variable hay.
Now that I don’t back up I’m running 4640 PS, it’s overkill and way too much tractor. I’d like a 4240 power shift for this job if I ever had the cash for a solid one or if I could find a 2094 case or something similar that’s not a rat trap I think it would sip fuel and get the job done cheaper.
If I had unlimited time, I’d build a tractor from an old Deere cotton stripper with the 4 speed hydrostatic drive. Not sure what it would look like but I’d think hydrostat would be the king.i guess if a guy went that far he may as well make a self propelled from it! | |
