Can you take the top off the piston and push the piston with your finger (no nails) to be able to tell if everything is smooth or if something is dragging/binding? I have no experience with Bostitch, but had a cheapie HF brad gun that was having issues... some cleaning/lubrication and cycling plunger as tightening down screws on the front end (slightly adjusting alignment within screw holes to make everything as smooth as possible) cured mine.

I think mine was sticking down where it wouldn't cycle... if yours fires it may not be retracting all the way where nails will feed, or feed spring may not be pushing hard enough to get the nails pushed forward.
