The way you describe sounds like the hammer cycles fine but the problem is in the feed mechanism. Either weak spring or some hang up in the magazine. The plastic of the magazine didn't happen to warp while it was in storage?
I had one do that to me. I used a screwdriver to put pressure and expand the magazine then applied some heat from a heatgun, cooled and removed the screwdriver.
