not entirely true. if the current monitor has a serial port it is possible that it can be controlled by the app rate module.
we did this for a number of years when we did custom spraying. i would use an insight and app rate to control a raven 440/460 with a serial port to do variable rate.
i also did this for a number of years with an insight and later with an integra controlling a rawson accurate box, variable rating seed.
the function of the app rate is limited on control like state before but was a way to access more primitive monitors that had a serial port for outside control. as i state before i am unfamiliar with the OP's current setup so i am unsure if rate can be controlled or not. i am not aware of any situation though that would allow section control with an app rate module, meaning i do not believe a situation exists where it is possible to use an app rate to turn a section on or off, though as stated it can read if that section was turned on manually or not and record the coverage.
You are correct in that I did not mention the ability to use a serial connection to another device. What I said was entirely true, I just didn't tell the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say. The reason I left the serial connection to another device out of my reply is that I find that this confuses many people.
I too, have used the Application Rate module to work with a Raven 450. I actually have the Ag Leader serial cable to connect an Application Rate Module to a Raven 440,450,460 etc with the 9 pin serial port that I no longer use if someone has interest in one.
Apparently Ag Leader is dropping support for the Application Rate Module with their newest "GO" series of displays.
