IMO John Deere 4440 is the ultimate haying tractor

Growing up I thought the 4020 was the best tractor JD ever made. Then I thought the 4440 was the best cab tractor JD ever made.

Now sadly our 4440 has been demoted to a grain vac tractor. After using the newer tractors all day long I'd probably hate to have to sit in the 4440 all day long.

But one of our biggest days haying was with the 4440. We baled over 300 bales in one day and to top that the hydraulics were messed up on the 568 baler so it took like 20 or 30 seconds for the gate to close. Some restrictor valve (or something like that) that protects the gate from slamming shut was messed up. Seems like it was a Saturday so no go on getting it figured out by JD dealer. The AC was messing up to boot. Hired hand said that was the longest day of his life baling hay!
