The guy before me used a 40ish foot turbo till. Every neighbor around uses VT tools, but every neighbor, also had land passed down for the last 100 years, which makes it easier.
For the last 3 years I ran the place with a JD 4055. It does outstanding on the planter, but doesn't like a 500 bushel cart on our hills at all. The upgraded to the tractor served a few purposes.
1, let's me look at doing my own tillage
2 makes the 4055 last longer as an auger tractor/planting tractor than it would planting/grain cart
3, is new and nice enough, that in the 40ish years I have left doing this, I never have to think about needing more HP. That box is checked for my life. | |
