live in Spfd, farm located NW Macoupin county | I will reiterate what others have said- getting 1 tillage tool to do it "all" is difficult to do. But with your budget of $25K you could put together a good line a varied equipment; field cultivator, disc chisel/ripper, and disk. Could add in a soil finisher as well. While it may not be shiny new equipment, older equipment with a few repairs could get you set up to be able to handle varied crop and soil conditions.
I would look at older 26-30 ft field cultivators; IH (45, 4500, 4800, 4900), JD (960, 980), Krause K-tine. The key here is to make sure they have pivot bushings in the C-shanks that can be replaced.
Disk (25-28 ft)- IH 496, JD 600 series, Sunflower, Krause. Just make sure the blades are good. Replacing blades can get expensive.
Disc chisel (9-11 shank) /ripper (5-7 shank)- a wide selection of options but look for taller shanks for clearance. I am not a fan of spring shanks but some people like them. Going with the chisel plow will allow you to change points as crop conditions dictate. I like straight points for soybean stubble and twisted for corn stalks.
Soil finisher- again a wide choice of options but 18-20ft will likely be all you can handle. |
