Whether or not someone has children is irrelevant. If we are going to have public schools, everyone should pay for them. You’re not paying to educate your kids, you’re paying to educate all the people you’re going to interact with in society. Do you want your insurance agent to be able to do math? Do you want your lawyer to have a strong command of the English language? Do you expect the people developing chemicals and pharmaceuticals at Bayer to be good at chemistry? If the answers are yes, then it’s right for you to pay for schools even if you’re childless.
