South eastern South Dakota | I believe it is one of the best in the country. My daughter is there and has been for over 6 years. She has 2 degrees there now, and will have her masters soon, then going for a doctorate in chemical engineering and energy. If your kid is a B student in high school he will have to work harder to maintain that B at Rapid. I 90 is an easy drive to Rapid. Lots of hotels on LaCross ave. you can stay at when visiting. The professors do a lot for their students, lots of student bodies that help if a student needs help., study groups etc. Don't be afraid to ask professors questions. Freshman first semester sucks. Got to stay on top of schoolwork and keep records from day 1, there may not be a test until the end of semester and that hurts lots of kids that don't keep good daily records. That weeds out a few kids. Be prepaired for hard work - lots of homework every day. Lots of things to do in Rapid too, hiking, fishing, exploring the hills, riding 4 wheelers in the hills. The bad thing for you is, I think out of state kids pay more, not sure of that tho. |
