West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Here, after all of the country school districts were wisely merged into town school districts, two town school district made the very wise decision to merge into one school district way back in the early 70s so we own land in two counties that share the same school district. The elementary schools are in both small towns and the middle/high school is my neighbor and is located between the two towns pretty much on the county line.
I honestly can't even imagine an entire school district only having 88 students. Our graduating classes have over a hundred students and we're considered a relatively small school here. Several years ago our merged in the 70s school district, made the decision to form a cooperative agreement with next school district 20 miles to our West to share the cost of our boys and girls swim teams, boys and girls hockey teams, and wrestling team.
On top of school district taxes, the never ending fund raising efforts of the many school activity booster clubs does get kind of old...although it is kind of nice to have a few young football players carry 30 bags of water softener salt down into our basement utility room every fall for us. |
