Subject: RE: South Dakota School of Mines

South eastern South Dakota
Well, my kid took 2 majors at the same time in one of the hardest schools around, and stayed on the Deans list for 4 years.
She has now graduated with 2 Bachlors degrees in 5 years, and is now half way through her masters. Not really a career student, just a student, and a kid that wants to make a lot of money and has a plan.
It makes sense to get at least a masters, I talk with several fertilizer and herbiside people, as well as cooperative managers. They all say they want to hire someone with a masters over a bachlers every day of the week. I have had a couple of the managers of ag business talk with her and they say the same thing - - the best money maker is with the higher degree, both for the company and the employee. One of the men I spoke with said a large part of his job was to interview and find the best people for his company, and the masters degree holders had much more world/people experience and fit much better, so they got hired every time.
It used to be a bachlors was all you needed but not so much now. Fields have become very advanced in chemical development and companies flat pay more for that education. About 20 grand a year more.
The state of South Dakota thought she was worth the investment too as they gave her a full ride, plus, private individuals gave her scholarships too. She still has enough money to pay for the second half of her masters and her full doctorate. Why would she not take advantage of that?

Take a look at E O Lawrence, he got his PhD from University of South Dakota at age 25, was he a career student, if so, maybe it's not so bad.
